Style Shoot- All Things Boho

I was enjoying a hot summer day outdoors reading a book when I get a text from Samir from Samir K Photography on Jul 11th asking if I wanted to plan a Boho themed style shoot.

I wont lie, I was a bit hesitant at first because I was already in the process of planning another style shoot around the same time (I will talk about that in another post), but as soon as I hear style shoots, it just gets me all excited. There is nothing more compelling than having a bunch of creative heads come together to bring a beautiful vision to life.

I asked Samir for any inspirational pictures he could share so I could understand his vision a bit better and this is where all the planning began.

Once I created a color palette and mood board for myself, I started reaching out to vendors whose style I felt would work well with the theme. Getting the right vendors onboard who understand the vision is VERY important to me. I always believe that you should never look at the followers, likes or status when picking vendors. Look at their WORK and how they are as people to work with.

The very first vendor I reached out to was the venue -The Royal Ashburn Golf Club. I had done a site visit back in November when I was looking for venues for a client and had instantly fell in love with their venue and staff. Since we wanted this shoot outdoors, I couldn’t have picked a better venue. They were fantastic to work with and extremely accommodating. We mutually picked the date for the shoot which meant that I only had 1 month to plan this entire shoot. With Samir’s help on certain vendors, we ended up putting a GREAT team together.

Always find the venue that fits your “style”.

Each vendor I worked with for this shoot was extremely friendly and super supportive.

Amanda from Royal Ashburn was one of the kindest most accommodating venue vendors I have met. She was very flexible with dates and was readily available to help when required.

Sandra from ‘Coordinate this’ jumped in proposing several options based on the design I communicated with her. I didn’t want a regular bridal bouquet for the shoot and we worked together to create this stunning piece that Sandra created.

Hold the vision.

Drop the excuses.

Remember your why.

Swerve around obstacles.

TRUST THE PROCESS.

Divya from Crumblicious Cakes was not hesitant to ask as many questions as she could to properly understand my vision. She even had her husband come to my place with sample of colors to ensure she had the right color palette for the shoot. I mean look at that final product! =)

Samir from Samir K Photography was a charm to work with. He was very easy going and always jumped in to help when needed.

Raziya the clothing designer from Dulhan by Mischief provided us with quite a few outfit options to pick from. It was definitely a hard pick, I’ll tell you that 😉

Its important to have a great team of vendors for your wedding who is as invested as you are in making sure that the product delivered is beyond satisfactory.

Any setbacks?

Yup, this time it was our ever changing amazing Canadian weather. The day before the shoot, it showed rain from 3pm onwards and our shoot was scheduled to START at 3pm. I reached out to all the vendors to start at 9am instead but unfortunately, the Makeup artist and the male model were not available which meant that we had 12 hours to find another vendor for both. Luckily, we did end up finding great vendors who were able to come onboard last minute.

Due to the change in timings and a couple of vendors not being available, Shazia from Zayver by Shazia whose collection is absolutely stunning, quickly stepped in to provide help. She suggested Maria from Hair styles by Maria and Riffat Wu who did a phenomenal job to create the perfect look for our shoot.

Sid and Abigail (models) did a remarkable job on set. They were flawless and we all had a great time working with them. Plus, the weather ended up working in our favor and it didn’t pour at all, which was a bonus.

On the day, the shoot went beyond perfect. The team worked very well together and every single person put in more than 100% effort and that’s what counts. I have made some amazing friends through this experience that I will cherish forever.
